If you’ve been around here a while, you know I don’t make resolutions at the beginning of a new year. I don’t find it helpful. All setting goals does is set me up for failure. So instead I make a mental list of “Things to Work On.” That way I don’t have some big, looming finale I have to reach, and if I don’t get something done, that’s okay and I don’t feel like I should be disqualified from mankind.
Last week though, the Pioneer Woman,
one of my favorite bloggers, wrote a post on resolutions that I thought was
fun. You take the word resolution and come up with something for each letter of
the word. I thought I would give it a shot, so here is my non-resolutions
resolution.
Rest. Now, don’t roll your eyes and
think I’m wimping out already this year. Truth is, at 11 months Baby has just
started sleeping through the night. Therefore, I’m going to try and go to bed
at a reasonable hour and get a good, uninterrupted sleep. FINALLY.
Embrace Husband more. You thought I
was going to say “eat better” or “exercise more,” didn’t you? That’s what
everyone says. I’ll eat my chocolate and sit on the couch and not follow the
crowd.
Serve others. I’m one of those awful
people who doesn’t find the thought of service enticing. But when I do it I
enjoy it. Here’s to changing my mentality.
Open the box my sewing machine came
in over a year ago. Husband got me the beginnings of a sewing kit for
Christmas, and I’m excited to start learning. I just don’t know what to make.
Any suggestions? I’d love to make this Star Wars quiet book but I’m nowhere near that level of skill.
Listen to people before responding.
Growing up in my family, you had to interrupt if you wanted to say something.
It’s a hard trait to overcome.
Uncover new, yummy recipes in my
cookbook collection. I got two more wonderful cookbooks for Christmas and have
already found some good eats.
Take more pictures. My iPhone has
been great this first year of Baby’s life, but I want to get my fancy camera
out more often to capture images that aren’t just of Baby. As cute as he is.
Investigate the
skinny-jeans-and-boots trend that has apparently taken my area by storm. Hmm.
We’ll see. At least leggings are on their way out.
Organize Baby’s room. It needs some
storage bins much more than it needs the infant swing Baby’s now too big to use.
Notice when someone needs help, and
help them.
There you have it. It looks like
2013 is going to be busy!

Pioneer Woman is my favorite, too, and I considered doing this post as well. I recommend making a pillowcase as a starter project. It'll make you sew straight seams, it's simple and it's useful.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you could definitely rock the skinny-jeans-and-boots trend. And I'm with you on leggings. :)
